Substance Exposed Newborn Prevention & Protection

In 2016, Healthy Start of SWFL initiated a Drug Exposed Newborn Task Force in Collier County to address the increased number of babies born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), a condition caused when a mother has exposed her baby to drugs, prescribed or illegal. A second task force was created in Lee County and is currently in operation.

Our goal is to reduce the occurrence of drug exposed newborns in Collier and Lee County.

Notify your OB immediately if you are taking medications, consuming alcohol or using illegal drugs.
